A Brand New Burgundy: Vin Noé
© Vin Noé
High-priced, exclusive, heavy with tradition. Burgundy’s certainly got a reputation, and it’s not for nothing either. But the last 15 years have ushered in some exciting new developments, and a different set of associations now comes to mind. Burgundy? Why, that’s courageous, authentic, young, accessible! All that is thanks to the winemakers of a new generation who have dared to take the leap into this established region, sometimes from far away. Their approach fuses a deep-rooted appreciation of Burgundy‘s unique terroir and flavours with modern, ecological approaches to viticulture. This is your opportunity to get to know the protagonists of this new Burgundy up close and personal – in our 7-part wine dinner series.
The following wineries are participating:
Vin Noé am 12. Dezember 2024
Domaine Dandelion
Domaine Chantereves
Les Horees
Laisse Tomber
Maison Glandien
Domaine de Cassiopee
TBC dates to be announced soon.
We‘ll be kicking things off on Thursday the 12th of December 2024 with Vin Noé, an inspiring natural wine project by Californian Jonathan Purcell. Having left his native San Diego to study with David Croix in Beaune back in 2012, Jonathan spent the next few years honing his craft working for classic winemakers such as Philippe Pacalet, Domaine de Montille and Domaine Matrot. However, his desire to do his own thing grew along with his interest in natural wines. The opportunity first arose in 2016, when he bought a few tonnes of Beaujolais Village with a friend and turned them into a joint cuvée in a cellar rented from Christopher Santini in Auxey. Then, in 2020, Jonathan’s dream of his very own vineyards finally became a reality. He took over 0.8 ha in Saint-Aubin and Puligny-Montrachet from Jean-Jacques Morel, who had already made a name for himself thanks to his organic, additive-free wines. In his cellar in Gamay, Jonathan makes wines exactly as he envisages them: puristic, low-intervention, close to nature, with a view towards the future and sustainability. He cultivates his vineyards entirely by hand and horse-drawn plough. Free of additives, Jonathan’s wine boast clarity and authentic character.
You’ll be able to sample these select Vin Noé wines:
2018 Face to Face Viognier
2019 Bourgogne blanc
