Historical Armenian wine makes its European debut

1. Mar 2025

Let’s get one thing straight: this is not your usual Nobelhart invite, event, or newsletter. It’s not even about us. We’re simply wanting to share it because we’re so damn excited about it, and because we believe you should be too. So, listen up:

Selected bottles from Maral & Aaron Aslanian-Rawlins, hailing from Aghavnadzor, Armenia, are now available through Viniculture, marking the first time that these special wines are for sale in Western Europe. We’ve also managed to secure some for the Nobelhart cellar – enjoy one or several with your supper, or join us from 9:45 p.m.  if you’re looking only for a tipple.

We’ve been fans of Maral and Aaron ever since Billy, Johannes Schellhorn and Sebastian Bordthäuser made their way to the now-closed winery on their wine trip through Armenia back in 2022. What Maral and Aaron accomplished between 2016 and 2022 was nothing short of extraordinary. They crafted electrifying wines from 150-year-old ungrafted vines, made with a reverence for nature and a defiant stand against the soulless, mass-produced wines of today. Viniculture calls them a “journey through time,” telling the story of an ancient winegrowing culture. Frankly, we couldn’t put it better ourselves.
