Piedmont up and down January 29, 2023

14. Dec 2022

Get ready for the brand new year’s first wine event at Nobelhart, hosted by none other than our intrepid sommelier Andreas Seiser.

What comes to mind when you think of Piedmont?  Perhaps hazelnuts, truffles or arneis. Arneis? Yes, indeed – that’s one of the Langhe’s local white grape varieties. But it’s also so much more than that: it is almost like a footprint the variety has left upon its region. In the North it tastes rather more fresh, fruity and straight, in the South it’s more edgy, complex and homogenous. The same is true for the Barbera, Dolcetto, Spanna and Nebbiolo varieties. Here’s your opportunity to get to know this singular region from the inside out.

We’ll be tasting a range of Barolo and Barbaresco, enjoy a little chat, great food and perhaps a detective story or two from the wonderful world of wine. After all, Piedmont isn’t just a wine region – it is pure origin.

For those who like to know things in detail:

Apero:

Cuvée Sainte-Anne Brut 07/22 (Magnum), Champagne Chartogne-Taillet, Champagne

And besides…

2013 Dolcetto d’Alba, Burlotto G.B.C.
2010 Langhe Freisa Toetto, Bruno Giacosa
2006 Barbera d´Alba Cuculo, Cavallotto
2013 Rosae, Giuseppe Rinaldi
2011 Langhe Arneis, Castello di Neive
1994 Alteni di Brassica, Gaja
2017 Barbaresco Montestefano, Rivella Serafino
2011 Barbaresco Pajé, Roagna
2004 Barbaresco Cottá, Sottimano
1988 Barbaresco, Gaja
2017 Barolo Cannubi, G. Fenocchio
2011 Barolo Pie Rupestris, Cappellano
2010 Barolo Francia, Giacomo Conterno
1970 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione, Vietti

And so much  more

We’ll be trying 22 wines in total

By the way: With (old) wine being a natural product, things can go awry, say, if a bottle has cork. We’ll share our joy as well as our pain. Nonetheless, we’ll have some good replacements ready just in case.
