Ten years of Nobelhart

4. Jan 2025

Sometimes, things go wrong in the best possible way.

We’re thinking here of the tiny, insignificant mishap that happened to Micha just ahead of our opening on February 11th, 2025.

You see, as we were in the midst of our preparations, Micha was looking to procure a reasonable amount of fire lighter. (Reasonable being the operative word here.) A few packs, perhaps, because they do tend to last for quite a while. Well, what turned up at Friedrichstraße a few days later? An entire pallet of barbecue lighters.

Well, ten years later, we’ve nearly used up all of it. And we’re ten years older. And still here. That’s no mean feat – after all, many restaurants don’t make it through their first year. We’re practically ancient.

So what are we going to be doing for our big anniversary, aside from ordering new fire lighter?

Absolutely nothing. Because Billy does not celebrate, and nor does Micha.  No birthdays, no Christmas, no nothing. Worse yet, they don’t celebrate themselves – at least that was one of the insights sparked by one of their recent couple’s therapy session. Well, there’s no arguing with them. One is just a little bit depleted on the party front after being in the limelight most nights.

We’ll still be marking the occasion, of course – just not with some huge 4-day bacchanalia like some other people we know (hi, Berghain). No, we’re treating us to a nice long weekend. The restaurant will remain closed on the 11th of February.

Like every year, we’ll be on vacation from the 1st of January. If you’d like to toast to ten years of Nobelhart, you’ll be able to do so again from the 16th of January. We’ll make sure your glass doesn’t go empty.
