Winter is coming & New Year’s Eve 2019/2020

26. Sep 2019

The show must go on, even on Sunday, 1 December — the day of the RAW Wine Fair at Markthalle Neun. We for our part intend to drain quite a few extra bottles in its honor at Nobelhart & Schmutzig. As every year, we’ll be taking a few days off for Christmas (24 – 26 December). Otherwise we’ll be welcoming guests as normal, Tuesday through Saturday, during the Advent season. Excepting the last week of the year, when we’ll be out acquiring some new delectables on Sunday and Monday. In exchange we’ll be open the last three days of the year: Sunday, 29 December; Monday, 30 December; and Tuesday, 31 December.

True to form, we Nobelharts will also be closing the eatery for a few days in the New Year. First we’ll check out the action at Berghain, then fly for a couple of days to freeze our butts off in New York City. After that we’ll be making a side jaunt to Lebanon, Beirut. It’s warmer there, but hopefully not nasty hot like this past summer. So: Nobelhart & Schmutzig will be closed from Tuesday, 1 January through Tuesday, 15 January 2020. Our first seating following the winter holiday will come at 6:30 pm on Thursday, 16 January 2020.

With warm wishes to you and your clan for a happy and healthy holiday season and a terrific 2020!

NEW YEAR’S EVE 2019/2020

So let’s be clear:

New Year’s Eve costs more. It just does. That’s what happens when even the amateurs are out looking for a good pour. It’s one of the few times of the year when seats are reliably scarce and restaurant owners really have something to toast.

We’re no different!

The plan is to dig up a few extra-special bottles from the cellar. What exactly will make the cut? At this point your guess is as good as ours. You can be sure that they’ll either be ridiculously rare, outrageously pricey or both.

As always, Micha will concoct something masterful to eat. One thing is certain – we’ll be having homemade Berliner doughnuts, a New Year’s specialty in our fair city, with homemade jelly filling from Thomas. No peeking behind the curtain for now… anticipation is half the fun.

Standard operating procedures prevail: A 10-course prix fixe including Brita-filtered water. In addition, there will be a magnum of vintage 2000 Cuvee Louis Les Crayons Brut Nature from Champagne Tarlant and a selection of 7 wines that grabbed Wagner and Fissel by the lapels this year.

€350.00 per person for the whole shebang. Unlike other nights, on 31 December we’ll be wrapping up our portion of the festivities by 11:00 pm. So make sure you’ve already picked out your after-party.

We’re offering the following seatings: 6:30, 7:00 and 7:30 pm.

Please be sure to let us know in advance about any allergies or sensitivities.

Should you for any reason — however hard for us to conceive — not be drinking wine, we would be happy to organize a non-alcoholic beverage option.

Please let us know if you would like us to prepare your Champagne experience (bottle & 2 glasses) “to go,”

so that you can ring in the new year in style.

2011 Empreinte Premier Cru Brut
Champagne Geoffroy, Champagne, France
375 ml at € 35.00 – 2 glasses included with each bottle

Seconde Nature Chamery Premier Cru Brut Nature
Champagne Bonnet-Ponson, Champagne, France
750 ml at € 54.00 – 2 glasses included with each bottle

Given the nature of this event, we suggest that you reserve your table early by telephone or email: +49 (30) 259 4061 0or .

Due to extremely limited seating space, all reservations in this case must be paid in advance.

We appreciate your understanding and will confirm your reservation upon receipt of payment.

All the best,

The Nobelharts
