Looking for a job?
We are always looking for good people to staff the kitchen, deliver tableside service or complete a practical internship. There’s an opening in our team for new members:
Restaurant
- A dedicated kitchen intern, (d/f/m), starting now, to activly support our kitchen team.
(Job Profile is in German language)
Working at Nobelhart & Schmutzig
In 2015, we started out as a restaurant on Friedrichstraße. Since then, we’ve bagged a Michelin star, made it to #17 on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2022, and properly cemented our reputation as “Germany’s most political restaurant.” However, Nobelhart & Schmutzig now also includes two other branches: our online store and e-commerce start-up “Hausgemachtes” as well as our own “Mittel zum Leben” product line with our favourite foods from our kitchen.
In short, we are no longer just looking for kitchen or service staff, but have jobs for quality fetishists of various talents, professions, and skills.
Whether your place might be in the kitchen, in our warehouse or the office, we welcome applications from all those who don’t just accept the status quo but question things and push them forward. All the better if our values are as close to your heart as they are to ours. Yes, we are passionate about quality, excellent produce and the agricultural revolution. But we’re just as committed to fostering inclusivity, fairness and respect within any business context. In other words, if you’re just looking for “any old job,” if you can’t do without your 79 cent pork chops from your local discounter, and if you feel triggered by gender neutral toilets, anti-discrimination workshops and AfD ban stickers, we probably won’t have such an amazing time working together.
Please note: We know that afab people tend not to apply for a job if they don’t meet all or nearly all of the requirements. If this rings true for you, we would absolutely like to encourage you to apply regardless. Likewise, we explicitly welcome applications from members of the LGBTQ* individuals, POCs, neurodivergent individuals as well as people with disabilities. Please also be sure to apply if you’re worried you may be too old for a job in hospitality.
What we offer:
Value-based work
We see ourselves as pioneers of a better culture of food and consumption. In our eatery on Friedrichstraße, we are committed to vocally local cuisine and transparent, mutually beneficial and respectful collaboration with our producers. In our businesses outside of the restaurant – our online store and our product line – we aim to take all of that to the next level. We’re also engaged in a lot of advocacy and activism work and pursue our values through participation in organisations such as Die Gemeinschaft e.V.
Inclusive and appreciative
We actively work against sexism, racism and other forms of discrimination. Nonetheless, we believe in putting our own house in order first. Our Guide of Conduct details how we create an inclusive, safe and discrimination-free workplace every day. It is also important to us to promote respectful and appreciative communication in our kitchen and beyond. After all, where does the path towards a fairer hospitality industry start if not with ourselves?
Flexible working conditions
We’re happy to come to individual agreements with you in so far as your job allows for it. Of course, if you’re employed in the restaurant, there is a limit to the accommodations we might be able to make in terms of working hours; fixed service times are in the nature of things here. But if you work mainly with a computer or in another branch of the company, we can absolutely talk about remote work or flexible hours. Likewise, if you are doing care work (i.e. if you have children or family to look after) we’re committed to helping find a solution that works for you.
Fair pay
For us, fair pay means: a wage that you can live on and that also compares favourably with other companies within and outside the restaurant industry. However, we also want to make sure that things are fair within Nobelhart & Schmutzig. To this end, we have introduced a transparent wage structure. This ensures that there are no differences in remuneration based on gender, skin colour or national origin.
Inclusive environment
It’s not for nothing that we are considered Germany’s most political restaurant: we actively work against sexism, racism and other forms of discrimination and regularly attend trainings and workshops. We welcome applications from people who are structurally disadvantaged, e.g. LGBTQ* people, POC, neurodivergent people and people with disabilities. We would also be delighted to receive more applications from people who are above hipster age.
Berlin’s best staff dinner
Every day we cook up a delicious staff dinner from the same high quality, local ingredients we use to feed our guests at the restaurant. Our favourite, however, is Saturday, when our patissier makes dessert.
If all this sounds good to you or you’re at least curious to find out more, be sure to contact Juliane Schwaier by e-mail at and send us a short cover letter, your CV and everything else you need for an application.
Important: Documents sent by mail will not be returned.
