Honingbeer live (Bigamo) Gelinaz!, Sunday, January 28, 2024, 5 and 8 p.m.

9. Dec 2023

We’re quite serious about a few things: food and politics, for example. And there’s certainly no cutting corners for us where music is concerned either. Billy has been an avid record collector for years. More recently, Elena Scheer has stepped up her music curation game and has been putting her stamp on the Nobelhart playlist. If you’ve spent an evening with us, you know we like to play our records start to finish, no exceptions. Pop, techno, delta blues, field recordings – anything goes, except for boring ass muzak.

In January, we’ll finally have the honour of hosting a live performance by a musician we much admire. Honingbeer aka Marthe Lasthuis is a Dutch violinist whose recent “Opia” EP is out on our dear friend Frank Wiedemann’s (aka Ame/Innervisions) “Bigamo” label. Honingbeer’s music invites us to become submerged in her melancholic, layered compositions. And while her background is in classical music, her current project takes detours into electronica, nonetheless making for a fully realised artistic vision.

Join us in exploring Honingbeer’s moving soundscapes at this year’s edition of Gelinaz! Created by legendary food critic Andrea Petrini, the event series’ current theme is music and aims to put the latter in the spotlight in the context of fine dining. We’ll be serving a four-course dinner alongside Honingbeer’s set, with two seatings/performances beginning at 5 and 8 p.m. respectively. Please note that if you want to be closer to the music, you’ll be paying a little more. Conversely, tickets will be cheaper for those sitting further away.

And yes: this happens on a Sunday. We don’t usually open on Sundays, but there you have it – if you plan your day carefully, you can make it to Berghain and/or catch the Tatort
