Wine evening: Tarlant Champagne with Benoît Tarlant

Don’t tell anyone, but Billy does play favourites where drinks are concerned. Champagne–winemaker’s champagne to be exact–holds a very special place in his heart. There is always something inimitable and exciting about each different style, grape variety and/or terroir. You know, something that supermarket champagne à la Moet Chandon just cannot provide.

That’s why we are excited to be able to welcome Benoît Tarlant to our first ever champagne evening. The Tarlant family tradition of winemaking hails back to 1687, but even after 12 generations there is nothing antiquated or boring about their wines. Nor is there any pandering to conventional ideas of luxury or prestige.

On the contrary, what you get here is an authentic, artisanal product boasting full-bodied maturity, conveying a sense of its place of origin.  In addition, the 57 parcels dominated by Pinot on 15 hectares are produced completely organically. So it’s no wonder that Wagner, as a 1.) winemaker’s champagne lover and b) someone crazy about wines-with-character, has already drank his way through Tarlant’s cellar twice.

If your French is not up to scratch, don’t worry: Benoît is fluent in German. The principle is otherwise familiar. We serve our regular menu, plus Benoît guides you through a selection of Tarlant vintages.
