Fettschnitzel Wednesday – The best Schnitzel in Berlin …extendet to May 3rd & 10th
Starting March 22, 2023 and through the entire month of April (due to the great success extended to May 3rd and 10th!), we’ll be offering Schnitzel at the restaurant on Wednesdays. Yes, you read that right: no need to come and blow half of Auntie Ulla’s inheritance on a 10-course menu, we’ve got you covered!
The first iteration of our rather aptly named “Fettschnitzel” comes from the leg of a pig slaughtered on January 27 at Erdhof Seewalde – and it’s just about perfect now after having matured for a good eight weeks. There is a rather large chunk of fat on the cut, but that is the exact opposite of a problem as it brings out the spectacular flavours. Because the basic product is amazing in and of itself, we don’t do much to it at all: we cut thick pieces, pound them lightly, and cover them in Domberger bread crumbs. Your schnitzel comes with a thick pork fat mayonnaise from the same pigs with Avaa Verjus. And if you find yourself tempted by any of what you see on your neighbour’s plate, we’ll be happy to get you a helping of that, too – if we’ve got enough, that is.
It’s perfectly possible that one day we’ll also have veal schnitzel. Either way, while you’ve probably had a number of schnitzels in your day, you haven’t had one like Micha Schäfer and Alexander Jordt’s!
Please note:
It is important to us that we serve you a schnitzel of the highest quality. For this reason, we’ll need you to book by 3 to 5 in the afternoon on your desired date – we need to take the meat out of the refrigerator and let it rest for a few hours.
